Years ago, at a house we rented in Kent, we fell in love with a huge stand of a plant called phlomis. Sadly, we never had any success growing it in Chicago.

After hearing some unusual barking during the night, we woke up to find two discriminating dogs comfortably sleeping on the rattan chairs under the covered porch. Let's call them Maizie and Ramona. Tom made them scrambled eggs for breakfast while m-c made a "found: two dogs" sign. By 10 a.m. they were reunited with their grateful owners. We miss them already.
